A multi-year major grant in 2024 to C.A.L.M (Campaign Against Living Miserably) funds a helpline ‘seat’ for 3 years, answering up to 9,500 calls or chats a year from struggling young people.

Tragically, 6929 young people have taken their own lives over the past decade.

CALM exists not only to intervene at vital crisis moments but to provide coping mechanisms, tools, advice and, crucially, hope to everyone struggling. They aim to make suicide prevention a conversation everybody feels comfortable with.

The helpline which The Foundation's grant supports, is open for 365 days a year, from 5pm to midnight. Young people or those concerned about them can access it via phone call, web chat or What's App. In many cases the helpline saves lives.

This video which aired on the ITV This Morning programme in January 2025 conveys the devasting impact of youth suicide.
