A Local Office Allowance from the Nottingham location enabled 50 families who are unable to attend mainstream events to experience a magical circus performance.

Not for profit community interest company Circus Starr puts on spectacular circus performances for Children with disabilities, families on low incomes, those facing challenges such as domestic violence, bereavement or who may be living with a life-limiting condition. The events are tut-free zones; shows in which shouting out, dancing and jumping up and down are expected.

Free tickets are sent to children and their families through a network of hospices, schools, hospitals, regional branches of national charities and support groups; families can also apply direct to Circus Starr. They do this as in 2024 nearly 1.5 million UK families can’t afford a single day out together. They also do it because 50% of families with disabled children say that the stigma and discrimination, they face makes them feel isolated.

Circus Starr’s message to SJP:

“I would like to say a heartfelt thank you for sticking with us in these challenging times. You have helped make it possible for isolated children and families to have a break from their worries and have some fun. To quote some feedback from one of our families, “Family fun is so important when everyday life can be a struggle".
