From transforming the life of individuals to enabling organisational growth, the impact of our funding in the Mental Health sector is helping at both an individual and organisational level.
Tedworth Equestrian - The Armed Forces Equine Charity
A £10,000 grant was awarded to Tedworth Equestrian to fund a mental health programme for 10 military veterans using equine assisted therapy.
Mark Fowler, who enrolled on the programme, shared afterwards: “The Armed Forces Equine Charity has literally saved my life and allowed me to awake from a 21-year nightmare of PTSD, depression, CFS. I really don’t know where I would be without The Equine Assisted Recovery pathway they have supported me on.
"My learning from this experience is that complex challenges require innovative and creative solutions that should be tailor-made to the individual. By weaving together, a supported pathway of clinical and non-clinical interventions you get the best results. The three equine assisted interventions really did it for me and demonstrated the power of horses to do good for people.”
CALM
During 2021, we were able to see the results of a multi-year grant awarded to CALM, a charity that aims to prevent suicide through raising awareness and providing mental health support.
The £154,000 grant funded a Project Service Partnerships Manager over three years, offering targeted and timely support to young men at risk of suicide.
The role has been instrumental in extending CALM’s reach, partnerships and funders; working with 31 partners, including The Trussell Trust, the Metropolitan Police, Instagram, and 330 volunteers to help target vulnerable groups that may need their support.
