Hector's House is a charity set up by Hector Stringers’ family after he died by suicide aged just 18, with the aim of preventing suicide and mental health stigma through education, awareness, and support.
Based in the South East, Hector's House offers support to those who are struggling to cope with their mental health, who are experiencing suicidal thoughts, and also for those who are supporting a suicidal loved one or have been bereaved by suicide.
We are supporting the charity with a 3-year grant of £30,000. This grant is being used to fund support staff who offer a listening ear, and for those that need it, help create a safety plan and establish a tailored pathway to care. This can take time as each individuals needs vary. Support can also be given through other organisations or accessing therapy. Importantly, this funding gives young people access to support services that would be otherwise unavailable due to affordability.
