A Local Office Allowance from the Edinburgh location helped support two determined young people, who had been vulnerable or affected by homelessness to unlock their untapped potential.

Move On believe everyone has the potential to secure a job, manage money, sustain a stable life home life and have a fulfilling and independent future. They help people achieve these goals by providing mentoring, peer education, training, volunteering opportunities, guidance and advice.

One such young person was Nina, who had experienced care and was about to transition into independent living, which she was finding both exciting and stressful. Move On Mentor Amber, supported Nina to settle into her new flat and helped secure her a paid placement at City Arts Centre and Lauriston Castle.

Nina said: “I’m more independent now and take ownership of my wellness. My health and stamina have improved, and I can handle things I never thought I could”.

Partner Simon Boyd, who referred Move On for the funding told us why:

“As a father with 2 young kids, I feel especially keen that we support charities that can really help give kids that don’t have the same opportunities as others a bright future.

It’s also important to support charities that aren’t necessarily in the public eye as much as others but do so much good work that often goes under the radar.”
