Established in 2008, OnSide is a national youth charity that provides support to young people in UK’s most disadvantaged areas.
Their Youth Zones are dedicated safe spaces for children and young people to learn new skills, access emotional support and build relationships. We have been supporting OnSide for 12 years, helping them grow strategically and get their national vision off the ground. In that time we have provided capital grants towards six Youth Zones. We continued this support during 2022, committing further funds to develop 4 more Youth Zones. 2022 saw the charities reach grow enormously, supporting an incredible 53,535 young people throughout the year – an increase of 13,229 from the previous year.
In response to the growing cost of living crisis, we also supported OnSide with their Winter Hunger Campaign. The campaign provided young people in their Youth Zones with a free hot meal during the winter, which for many children was the only one they’d receive in a day. The iniative also provided invaluable time for the Youth Workers to sit down with the young people over a meal and get to know them and their needs, helping them to identify where further support is required.
