Ormiston Families support families in the East of England to build resilience and make choices to improve the life chances of their children.

Our 2023 multi-year grant contributed to the Cambridgeshire Breaking Barriers project, supporting children with an imprisoned parent, with their emotional wellbeing, school experience and behaviour. The project hired ten practitioners across the region, supporting 280 children.

Andrew Fitchett at Ormiston Families said "The support from St. James's Place Charitable Foundation made a huge difference to our Breaking Barriers service in Cambridgeshire. It allowed us to keep delivering our vital work with children who have a parent in prison and, indeed, increase the hours practitioners were able to deliver”.

In 2023, Ormiston Families won the Children and Young People’s Now (CYPNow) ‘Early Intervention Award’ for Breaking Barriers, with judges praising it as a ‘fantastic service’ that supports ‘invisible children’.
