We are delighted to share that we have been shortlisted for a Better Society Award for our work with OnSide, a charity that empowers young people to lead positive, fulfilling lives by providing access to incredible spaces and excellent youth work.
For the last four years we have been on the Better Society Award shortlist for building strong and impactful relationships with charitable organisations and have won three awards to date. This year, our work with OnSide to expand its services has been recognised by the awarding body.
We began supporting OnSide in 2012 and were the charity’s first major corporate foundation to back them. The OnSide centres have always been about engaging young people in areas of deprivation, giving them free access to sports and leisure activities, as well as helping them achieve their goals and aspirations. The charity had great ambitions to expand to other cities in need of their youth provision and our support has been instrumental in making this happen. To date we have awarded nearly £4 million to help OnSide expand its impact and the charity now has 14 youth zones and seven more in development across the UK.
As well as funding, we’ve also supported the charity with a wider package of support such as providing volunteers across their network of Youth Centres, strategic support and helped leverage further funding for OnSide’s projects.
Jamie Masraff, CEO of OnSide shared: ‘The partnership with SJPCF has been truly transformative to OnSide and their support has positively impacted the lives of tens-of-thousands of young people since 2012. Moreover, their support has helped us leverage over £10 million in wider funding and at critical moments, St. James’s Place’s people have stood alongside us to help deliver our vision that young people must have somewhere positive to go after school, trained and dedicated youth workers to talk to and great activities to keep them engaged, inspired and assisted to reach their potential.’
