Tenovus Cancer Care gives help, hope, and a voice to everyone affected by cancer.
They provide cancer support, information, and services to better access the treatment and support people may need to have an improved quality of life.
In 2024 the Foundation’s support of Tenovus Cancer Care continued to reduce the risk of financial difficulties for cancer patients by funding a Benefit Advisor as part of a 3-year grant, with the aim of securing around £3M for 1,200 affected families.
Rachel Spencer, Advice Service Manager at Tenovus Cancer Care said:
“The cost-of-living crisis hits many people with cancer hard. They are having to make difficult choices about where to spend their money, are working closer to their treatment’s starting date due to worries about money and can be so stressed about it that they cannot focus on their cancer treatment at all.
The crisis hugely increases the number of people coming to us for help and forced us to start triaging cases to handle the pipeline. Without the St James’s Place Charitable Foundation’s amazing award to add to our benefits advice team, in all likelihood we would be turning people away.”
