WellChild is focused on improving the lives of children and young people with complex medical needs across the UK, enabling them to be cared for safely at home rather than in hospital wherever possible.
Through its network of specialist nurses, practical home support and family programmes, the charity helps families manage the significant emotional and logistical challenges of long-term care.
Multi-year funding awarded in 2023 has supported a Digital Information Officer role. This has strengthened WellChild’s digital services, including the development of its Information Hub and the “In Your Area” directory. These resources provide accessible, up to date and reliable guidance across all stages of a family’s journey - from diagnosis through to transition into adult services.
The impact has been significant, reducing isolation, saving time and improving access to tailored support. Families report feeling more informed, connected and confident in caring for their children at home.
