Welcome
Welcome to our latest Impact Report reflecting on our activities and impact in 2022. As restrictions from COVID started to lift, it was great to see the SJP Community restart their fantastic fundraising activities. This resulted in an uplift in our overall fundraising performance for the year, raising £10.5m. We remain incredibly grateful to everyone at SJP for their enduring support and commitment.
As the challenges of the pandemic started to ease, other worldwide humanitarian issues emerged. With the support of the SJP community, we were able to respond quickly to these and offer our support. We directed funds to help those impacted by the crisis in Ukraine and natural disasters such as the flooding in Pakistan, working with leading humanitarian aid charities such as Disasters Emergency Committee and Red Cross. Across the year we supported 853 charities in the UK and across the world, enabling them to provide essential support in communities. Our latest research shows that this funding is helping to create substantive and transformational change for the charities and their beneficiaries, reassuring us that we are continuing to achieve improved and long-lasting impact.
We are honoured to work with so many incredible charities and are committed to ensuring positive and enduring change to those in need.

Allocation of funding
In 2022, we gave out £10.1m and pledged a further £4.5m to projects over the next few years. This is how the funding in 2022 was distributed across our core funding themes.
Focusing on long-term impact
We are delighted to see that the impact we are making is resulting in long term, positive change. We have now directly supported 3.5m people, with 66% reporting a substantive or transformative change in their lives. (Vs 64% in 2021).
Our charities tell us, that it’s the added value we facilitate that really makes the difference. From building capacity, increasing their organisational resilience, and helping with the expansion of services. By working collaboratively, we seek to better understand their needs and ensure we support them in the right way.
We are focused on creating long term transformative change and take a strategic approach to our grant giving to support this. Our multi-year grants support sustainable organisational change for grantees, giving them the confidence to grow and develop in the long term. Whilst our smaller grants help to provide more specialist provisions, with 53% of small grants supporting salaries. For example, the salary of a specialist nurse or family support provision for those effected by cancer.
As well as financial support, we also look to deepen our impact by providing additional value through the SJP community. From skills sharing and volunteering, to reallocation of resources like the Apprentice Levy, their action enables us to provide a holistic package of support.
Who we supported
Our work remained focussed on our four key themes.
Adding Value
As well as direct financial support, we were also able to facilitate practical and skills-based volunteering in 2022 through the SJP community. Tapping into their skills, knowledge and experience added value to our charity partnerships.
